Terms of use
Version 1.0. Effective 7 October 2026.
1. About these terms. Employer Brand Research ("EBR") is run by Fathom Data Labs Pte Ltd ("we", "us") as an imprint of Employer Branding News. By using the site you accept these terms. If you create an account or submit work, the sections on accounts and authors apply to you too. These terms sit alongside our Privacy notice, Cookie notice, Licensing policy and Commissioned research and sponsorship policy.
2. Who can use EBR. You must be 18 or over. Accounts are personal: use your real name and an accurate affiliation, keep your password safe, and tell us at once if someone else uses your account.
3. What EBR is, and what it is not. EBR publishes working papers. Our editors screen every submission for scope, basic quality, rights and ethics before it appears. Screening is not peer review and it is not endorsement, and every paper carries a notice saying so. Papers express their authors' views, not those of EBR, Employer Branding News or Fathom Data Labs. Nothing on EBR is legal, financial, employment or other professional advice; rely on your own judgement and take advice before acting on any finding.
4. What you promise when you submit. By submitting a paper you confirm that:
- you are an author, and every named author has agreed to the submission and to the licence;
- the work is your own, credits the work of others properly, and contains no fabricated, falsified or plagiarised material;
- you have the right to publish everything in it, including text, data, figures, images and logos, and it does not infringe anyone's rights, defame anyone or break a duty of confidence;
- research involving people had the ethics approval or exemption it needed, participants gave informed consent, and any data about people is anonymised or published with permission;
- you have permission to publish any employer or client data the paper uses;
- all funding, sponsorship, employment and other conflicts of interest are declared in the paper;
- any use of generative AI in the research or writing is disclosed in the paper, no AI tool is listed as an author, and the authors take responsibility for all of the content.
You are responsible for claims that arise because a paper you submitted breaks these promises.
5. Your rights and ours. You keep the copyright in your work. Each paper is published under the licence shown on it, which is CC BY 4.0 unless we have agreed otherwise (see the Licensing policy). Once a paper is posted, its licence cannot be withdrawn. You also give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and perpetual licence to host, copy, format, convert, archive, index, distribute and promote the paper and its metadata, including through Employer Branding News and indexing services. We may tidy metadata for consistency. We will not change your text without your agreement, apart from formatting.
6. Screening decisions. We may accept a submission, ask for changes, or decline it, including where it is out of scope, below standard, raises rights or ethics concerns, or reads as marketing. We will tell you the outcome and give a short reason.
7. Versions, corrections and withdrawal. You can post new versions of a paper. Earlier versions stay available and linked, because others may have cited them. If you ask us to withdraw a paper, we add a dated withdrawal notice and keep the record. We remove content entirely only where the law requires it, or where it infringes rights, is defamatory, exposes personal data that should not be public, or could cause harm. We may correct, withdraw or remove a paper ourselves for misconduct, serious error or a breach of these terms. We use the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as our reference for these decisions.
8. Comments (when switched on). Comment under your own name, stay on topic, and do not harass, discriminate, advertise, spam or post other people's personal data. We may edit or remove comments that break these rules.
9. Acceptable use. Do not use EBR to break the law; upload malware; try to get into accounts or systems you are not authorised to use; overload the site; scrape it in a way that slows it down; pretend to be someone else or misstate your affiliation; disguise promotional material as research; or inflate download or citation figures artificially.
10. Text and data mining. Papers are published under open licences that allow reuse, including text and data mining, as long as their terms are followed. Please use our OAI-PMH interface for bulk access and respect robots.txt and reasonable rate limits. The licence of each paper, not these terms, governs reuse of that paper.
11. Our names and design. The names and logos of Employer Brand Research, Employer Branding News and Fathom, and the design of this site, are ours and are not covered by any paper's licence. You may cite and link to EBR freely. Do not use our names or logos to suggest that we endorse you or your organisation.
12. Reporting a problem with content. If you believe a paper infringes your rights, defames you or exposes your personal data, email [email protected] with the paper's address, what is wrong, your contact details and, for copyright, a statement that you own or represent the rights. We will acknowledge within 5 business days and may restrict access to the paper while we look into it.
13. Availability. We provide EBR as it is and may change, pause or stop parts of it. Preservation matters to us: if we ever close EBR, we will make reasonable efforts to move the papers to another repository or archive so that links and citations keep working.
14. Liability. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 100.
15. Law and disputes. These terms are governed by the law of Singapore. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we will try to settle it informally within 30 days. If that fails, the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep any protection that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.
16. Changes. We post each new version here with its date. For material changes we email account holders 30 days before they take effect.
17. Contact. [email protected] for editorial matters; [email protected] for personal data. Fathom Data Labs Pte Ltd, 160 Robinson Road, #14-04, Singapore 068914, UEN 202410787C.
